CamRoute lets you plan a driving route between two points in the Greater Toronto Area and see all traffic cameras located near that route — so you can check live road conditions before or during your drive.
Camera images are sourced from three public feeds: City of Toronto, Ontario 511, and the Regional Municipality of Durham. Over 1,300 cameras are available.
Routing is powered by OpenStreetMap data via a locally-hosted OSRM instance. Geocoding (address lookup) uses Nominatim and geocoder.ca for Canadian postal codes.
CamRoute is part of the GTA Update family of tools. It is an independent, unofficial project with no affiliation to any government agency or road authority.
Type a start address in the FROM box and a destination in the TO box, then hit FIND. Or click two points directly on the map — the first click sets your start, the second sets your destination.
Cameras within 120 metres of your route appear in the sidebar, numbered in driving order. Click any camera card to see a live image. Click again to close it. Hover over a map dot to preview the camera image.
Hit the 📍 View Route Report button after a search to open a full report — all camera images on the left, turn-by-turn directions for the full route on the right. You can print this report.
Click the 🚦 button to toggle a live TomTom traffic flow overlay on the map. Green = free flow, yellow = slow, red = congested. Your preference is remembered between visits.
Click the 🌙 / ☀️ button to toggle between dark and light map themes. Your preference is remembered.
Hit CLEAR to reset everything and start a new search.
Camera images may be delayed, unavailable, or show conditions that no longer reflect current reality. Not all cameras refresh at the same rate. Some cameras may be offline or show a static image.
Route calculations are estimates based on map data and do not account for current road closures, construction, incidents, or conditions.
CamRoute is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the City of Toronto, Ontario 511, the Regional Municipality of Durham, the Province of Ontario, or any government or road authority.
